Welcome to the Witness Ministries

OFFICIAL REPORT ON THE VISIT OF PASTORS DANIEL OKEME AND PIUS OHUE OF THE WITNESS MINISTRIES, NIGERIA, TO UGANDA:

INTRODUCTION:
Pastors Daniel and Pius arrived Uganda on the 21st of September, 2007 and departed on the 2nd of October on the invitation of Pastors Stephen Tenywa, James Kibowe (both of Harvest Christian Centre Kakunyu-Kiyindi) and Moses Mukisa (of Pentecostal Churches of Uganda –Gulama Assemblies).

The above named Ministries operate mostly in the rural areas of Uganda and on the islands located in the midst of Lake Victoria, where transportation is really difficult. We are located on the outskirts of the Central District, south of Mukono, along the shores of the biggest Lake in Uganda, The Victoria.

While in Uganda, Pastors Daniel and Pius were a real blessing to our segment of the Body of Christ. They laboured and committed themselves to the teaching of the Word of God day and night. Theirs was a labour laced with sacrifices, as they ministered to the hungry people of Uganda. Their commitment to serving the people caused them to miss their flight, scheduled for the 1st of October, 2007, as people continued to insist on receiving more of the living Word of God.

Najja-Mukono

60 people were baptized in the Holy Spirit, with evidence of speaking in new tongues; and they continue to testify of the great changes God has brought to their lives.

A revival has broken out in the church, and there is a greater hunger for God. There is a greater commitment to prayer, as well as greater involvement of members in the programmes of the church.

This is the host church, where teachings continued for three days, including a Sunday service.

A woman who had been pregnant for over one year gave birth to bouncing baby girl.

One of the fruits of that visit is that many of the people now pray in new tongues.

The teaching lasted for half-a-day, but the common request from this and, indeed, all the churches visited, is for a follow-up trip.

An elder who had his daughter hospitalized, stood proxy for her as Pst. Pius prayed and has since testified to the healing of his daughter.

Many Christians in this church have continued to demand for the messages.

When Pastor Dan Visited this church, he taught on “The Mustard Seed” a message that captured the vision of the church. During subsequent Sunday morning services, portions of the audio recording of the message are either played to the hearing of the people or an elder is invited to highlight salient aspects of the message.   Copies of this message have been dubbed and distributed to sister churches.

Many of the brethren were revived.

This church appreciates your commitment to God and your visit. They wish to invite you for a two-week long conference. Plans are underway to invite you back to Uganda sometime between August and September 2008.

Pr.James Kibowe’s family

Kakunyu, Kiyindi-Mukono

Many positive things have happened since your visit. My children now to go a better boarding school, and my journey out of the country was facilitated.

We were renewed in our spirits and our family relationship became stronger.

We now have real brothers in Christ, with whom we can fellowship and interact.

We give God the glory for all things. I pray that this relationship continues to blossom till the coming of the Lord.

TANGIBLE SUPPORT FROM THE WITNESS MINISTRIES AND ITS IMPACT

Pastors Dan and Pius helped us to identify some of our key challenges, one of which is illiteracy. Most people in the church and in the surrounding communities can’t read and write. They also counselled us  on how to tackle this challenge. As a result, a program of functional adult literacy has commenced and over 50 Christians and community members have enrolled.

They also gave us compact disks containing life changing messages, which have made great impact on the lives of those who have been able to obtain copies. In our recent Bible Study meetings (which hold on Wednesdays) we have devoted forty minutes each time to listening to the audio recordings of the messages. We have also encouraged church members to share the messages with members of their families and fellow Christians.

The Witness Ministries subsequently supported our vulnerable children’s centre, a project run by Harvest Christian Center with 350,000 Ugandan Shillings, with which we have commenced an office building. By the time the structure is completed, we will have room for some of our equipment, which are stored under a tree, at the mercy of the sun and rains.

They also supported a sister, by name Susan, with 350,000 Ugandan Shillings to enable her commence a vocational training course in computer, beauty and home economics. We hope that, by the time she qualifies, she will be able to support herself, the church and our vulnerable children’s centre.

Three pastors (James, Steven and Moses) were supported with 80,000 Ugandan Shillings each. This money helped us to meet some of the pressing needs of our families and ministries.

PRESENT CHALLENGES:

·        In recent times, we have noticed a gradual increase in the number of orphans and other vulnerable children (OVC’s), occasioned by HIV/AIDS scourge and other natural calamities. We need a bigger piece of land, as well as a bigger structure to accommodate 700 orphans, already registered by the centre.

·        We need financial support to subsidise tuition fees and also supply reading and writing materials, uniforms, and a cup of porridge daily to provide lunch for each pupil/student.

·        We need all the support we can get to create a more conducive learning environment for the increasing numbers of the OVCs.

·        The need to complete the office building recently started.

·        The need for trained and functional adult trainers, training materials and resources to sustain the trainers and the training.

We apologise for the delay in sending this report. In due course, we will send a more comprehensive report.
